Hidden Events still showing

Emma — Jun 25, 2016 03:45AM MDT

Hi Abel
All of a sudden, future hidden events are showing to the public.
This didn't happen before.

Hi Emma.

Hmm. Sorry about that. Can you please direct me to a specific example?

Thanks, Abel

These are all hidden events. They were hidden yesterday until I separated the events onto different pages using the event id shortcodes rather than the [events_planner] shortcode. That code is on a published page but just not in the menu.

Ah, ok. Thanks for pointing that out. When you use [events_planner event_id=1234], the query just looks for the event id and no other criteria. One way to make this work is by using a category. You can create an event category, something like “Future”, and assign to these events. Then use [events_planner taxonomy=future] will put them on this page and hide them until you change the status to Active.

Oh I just tried the taxonomy code with my Active (not hidden) events and it is also showing
Sorry, there are no events currently available.
Any ideas why they aren't showing? Or do I have to use the event id when I want them to show?

Do I need to use quotes around the category?

I figured it out, I hadn't put the _ underscore between the words...
Just one other issue about the way the events appear...
On the actual event details page I can change the formatting and it appears sorrectly when I view the page (font/heading etc). But on the page with the link (using the event id or the taxonomy shortcode) the formatting disappears.

Hi Abel
I am still having trouble with this.
On my demo class page this event is showing, but without the formatting.
[events_planner taxonomy=demo_classes]

On my weekly classes page
[events_planner taxonomy=weekly_classes] is not making the events appear at all.
If I use the Event id codes instead, they show on the page, with the correct formatting.

I can't figure out the problem. Apologies for all the questions.
Thank you,
Emma

Suddenly the weekly classes are appearing - correctly formatted too!
But the demo classes are still informatted.
I feel like an idiot with these silly questions...

Hi Emma.

No worries at all!

Hmm. Can you please explain what you mean by formatting? I am seeing http://screencast.com/t/7TusUDBqWwf

Thanks, Abel
The text in the box "Experience a Family Music....."
should be in my Heading style (Red and Josefin font) and indented.

Here is the Text Editor entry:
<h4 style="padding-left: 30px;">Experience a Family Music Trial Class before you enrol for the term.</h4>
<h5 style="padding-left: 30px;">Places Limited.</h5>

It appears correctly if you view the event page here:
http://www.musicalley.com.au/event/demo-class/

but not on the page with the shortcode.

Weirdly, the other events appear correctly on the shortcode page.
You can't see them at the moment because I have hidden them but when I unhide them they look fine. And the formatting is the same.

Thank you, Emma

Hi Abel,
These shortcodes work...
[events_planner event_id=1299]
[events_planner event_id=1300]
[events_planner event_id=1301]
[events_planner event_id=1302]

This doesn't...
[events_planner taxonomy=weekly_classes]

I can't figure out the problem for the life of me.

I have figured out the formatting thing. I had "excerpt" selected in the display option, rather than "content".

And the taxonomy shortcode is working again. I cleared my cache earlier. Not sure if that did it.

Hi Abel,

Once again I am having the same issue with the shortcodes.

This works:
[events_planner event_id=1436]
[events_planner event_id=1438]
[events_planner event_id=1439]

This doesn't...
[events_planner taxonomy=weekly_classes]

I have not changed anything on the page, only created new ongoing events.
And the page is once again saying sorry no events to display. I have tried clearing the cache, saving the permalinks page, restarting my computer...

It seems to happen every time I create new events and is driving me crazy.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Emma

Hi Emma.

I just logged in and on the Book a Trial Class, I changed the shortcode from demo_classes to weekly_classes (just to test, I switched back) and it worked fine for me. I could see three classes. Which page is this not working on?

Thanks, Abel
